It is known as common water plantain. Regular flowers with 1 cm wide, 3 petals white to pale pink, yellowish spot at the base. Sepals 3, separate, green, clearly shorter than petals. Stamens 6. Several carpels. Pedicels 1,3 cm. Flowers in whorled groups forming a narrowing raceme.
leaves are aerial, floating and submerged leaves fairly common in flowing water. Aerial and floating leaves long-stalked, 8,25 cm long. Blade ovate, with rounded or cordate base and entire margins. Submerged leaves may have a strap-shaped blade. Flowers bloom in June,September. A powder prepared from dried roots is used in popular medicine as a cure for rabies and crushed leaves are used against mammary congestion; fresh leaves are employed in homeopathy.
